Dear Veradale Friends and Members,
We are continuing to welcome our community in person(we have lots of room even with the chairs set at 6’ apart) and we will be on Zoom and Facebook.
As we transition into this phase of the Covid experience, what are you longing for most?
Are you interested in church membership? Let me know.
Do you want to read scripture for this Sunday? Let me know.
Please, keep in prayer.
Helen who is home and comfortable.
Wayne and Charlie as they travel for the celebration of Marj Shull’s life.
Our church to be found by those seeking a community and spiritual practice like ours.
Our nation’s violence that includes the violence with words, laws, loop holes, denial of healthcare, hate, and guns.
Gratitude for Michael Pfieger’s sharing her piano talent while Wayne is away, for John Caroll’s work on the sprinklers, for Don and Jan’s work at leveling out and setting the bricks in the memorial garden.
For those in-person, we still follow our Covid Careful process and are making plans for when we will go mask free. For now we continue:
- Enter through front door (church wings will both be closed).
- Only the one bathroom by the front doors will be used.
- Temperature and names will be taken at the door.
- Masks are required (we will have masks for forgetful folk). No Face shields unlessthey include a cloth mask which MUST be worn over the nose.
- Chairs are set at 6’ apart. Please, do not move chairs.
- The Bibles, Hymnals, pens, pencils, coloring pages are all removed from the sanctuary. If you want to print your own bulletin or bring your own Bible, that is fine.
- There will be absolutely no eating or drinking in the building.
- Singing in the sanctuary is with masks on and seated.
Remember: Faith Leaders and Leaders of Conscience which is an outreach ministry of our church is offering a short story contest called “Brilliant Blunders that Left a Mark.” See the information at the end — Hope you can start writing now!

Passing the Peace of Christ and Welcoming the Light of Christ:
Hymn Be Now My Vision
Be now my vision, O God of my heart; nothing surpasses the love you impart – you my best thought, by day or by night, waking or sleeping, your presence my light.
Be now my wisdom, and be my true word; ever within me, my soul is assured; Mother and Father, you are both to me, now and forever, your child I will be.
Riches I need not, nor life’s empty praise, you, my inheritance, now and always. You and you only are first in my heart, great God, my treasure, may we never part.
Sovereign of Heaven, my victory won, may I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, still be my vision, O Ruler of All.
Response: Amen, amen, amen

Listening for God
Mark 3:20-35 NRSV
(Then Jesus went home;) and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat. When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, “He has gone out of his mind.” And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons.” And he called them to him, and spoke to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but his end has come. But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his property without first tying up the strong man; then indeed the house can be plundered.
“Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— for they had said, “He has an unclean spirit.”
Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and called him. A crowd was sitting around him; and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, asking for you.” And he replied, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34 And looking at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.
Message:Doing the Will of God
Sharing Holy Communion
Pastor: Friends in Christ, we gather at our many tables mindful of the presence of God’s Spirit that is here with us. We seek to honor the request of Jesus given in the scripture. Of all the teachings Jesus gave to our ancestors, this he asked them and us to do for him to remember him.
When Jesus and his friends sat together at a Passover meal, Jesus took bread; giving God thanks and praise, he broke the bread. He gave it to his friends saying, “Take this all of you and eat of it. This is my body that is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
After the meal had ended, Jesus poured out the cup and again he gave God thanks and praise. He gave the cup to his friends and said, “Take this all of you and drink from it. This is the cup of the new covenant. Do this as often as you drink of it in remembrance of me.”
Let us pray.
All: Loving God, you are everywhere. We seek your presence and celebrate your love. Come, Holy Spirit come. Bless this bread and this cup and all who have gathered in your Spirit. Refresh us and renew us as Christ’s body in the world today. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
All: We thank you, God, for your presence at all our tables where we remember and experience the presence of Christ. Help us to live more fully the way of Christ. Strengthen our faith, increase our love for one another, and let us show forth your praise in our lives, through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
Our Light moves into the World God Loves
Hymn: “ Amazing Grace”
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see
T’was grace that taught my heart to fear and grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed
Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come ‘tis grace that brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home
My God has promised good to me, whose word my hope secures; God will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we’d first begun.
Benediction and Love Round
Love, love, love, love, Christians this is your call. Love your neighbor as yourself for God loves us all.
