I’m so grateful to all who check in each week. It is good to know how you are doing!
Thank you for sending your love out through prayer. Continue to pray keep Maureen in your prayers as she recovers from surgery; Gae Ann as she recovers from pneumonia (and gratitude that it is not Covid!); Marvin’s Dad recovering at a rehab facility; Helen as she continues to recover from a stroke; and all who are struggling through this pandemic.
Some fun for those with young hearts! Each week during August we will have a theme and everyone is invited to bring something that represents that theme.
If you are on Facebook, you can put the story related to the theme in the comments and have a picture on your personal Facebook page. On Go to Meeting you can put the story in the Chat and show whatever you have brought to the others on the app. If you send me the something for this Sunday’s theme by Saturday, I may be able to select 1-3 of them to be share live.
This Sunday, August 9, A Boat Story. This could be a story about a toy boat, picture of a boat, book about a boat, your experience on a boat.
Sunday, August 16, Being Kind. Draw a picture, take a picture, write a poem, or tell a story about a time someone surprised you with kindness.
Sunday, August 23, Pieces that make a whole. Show a puzzle that you have put together and what it means to you. This could be a jigsaw puzzle, a crossword puzzle, a wooden 3-D puzzle — any kind of puzzle.
Sunday, August 30,The places we go. Show a path that you have walked that has meaning to you. It could be the labyrinth here at church, a trail in a park, or the sidewalk outside your home. What gives this path meaning?
The bulletin for Sunday worship is also below. Remember worship is seen and heard both on Facebook and Go To Meeting (link below). Please, keep flexible about worshiping in person. If Washington State goes back to Phase 1, we will only have the worship team in the building. We are in this for the long haul.
This Sunday, August 9, we plan to both worship in person as well as on-line. For those who come in person, expect:
- Enter through front door (church wings will both be closed).
- Only the one bathroom by the front doors will be used.
- Temperature and names will be taken at the door.
- Masks are required (we will have masks for forgetful folk).
- Chairs are set at 6’ apart. Please, do not move chairs.
- The Bibles, Hymnals, pens, pencils, coloring pages are all REMOVED from the sanctuary
- There will be absolutely no eating or drinking in the building.
Please, let me know if you are coming in person this Sunday so that I can be certain we have enough chairs set out. Thank you.
Volunteers are still needed to sanitize the bathroom every Sunday. We have volunteers for two Sundays of the month and need two more.
Also, I have recently learned about the projected tsunami of suicides predicted for October through December due to the foreclosures on homes, evictions from apartments, the costs of health care, the loss of jobs, and so much more. We will get through this together! Please, if you or someone you know is talking about harming themselves or feeling hopeless to the point of not wanting to live, call the

Passing the Peace of Christ and Welcoming the Light of Christ
Hymn: ”Jesus Calls Us, o’er the Tumult” 172 (NCH)
1 Jesus calls us o’er the tumult of our life’s wild, restless sea; day by day that voice still calls us, saying “Christian, follow me.”
2 As of old, St. Andrew heard it by the Galilean lake, turned from home and toil and kindred, leaving all for Jesus’ sake.
3 Jesus calls us from the worship of the treasure we adore from each idol that would keep us, saying “Christian, love me more.”
4 In our joys and in our sorrows, days of toil and hours of ease, Jesus calls us, in cares and pleasures, “Christian, love me more than these.”
5 Jesus calls us! By your mercies, Savior, may we hear your call, give our hearts to your obedience, serve and love you best of all.
Response: Amen, amen, amen

Message with Young Hearts: Bring your Boat Story.
This could be a story about a toy boat, picture of a boat, book about a boat, your experience on a boat.
Matthew 14:22-33 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them. And early in the morning he came walking towards them on the lake. But when the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified, saying, ‘It is a ghost!’ And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, ‘Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.’
Peter answered him, ‘Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.’ He said, ‘Come.’ So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came towards Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’ Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, ‘You of little faith, why did you doubt?’ When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshipped him, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.’
