Sunday Worship Jan 17, 2021 and Bulletin

January 16, 2021 by veradaleucc Leave a Comment

Dear Veradale Friends and Members,
I hope you are doing okay through these deeply troubling times. Please, send me a note to let me know how it is going with you.
This Sunday we celebrate the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The scripture readings are not from the lectionary. They are chosen as they connect to the faith of Rev. Dr. King. Let me know if you want to be one of the readers.
Our new Zoom Link for worship is below. We continue to be on Facebook as well.

On Sunday, January 24, we will be visiting Colville UCC. More details to come.

Remember, Sunday, January 31, we have our annual meeting to approve the budget. This will be on Zoom immediately after worship.

With blessings,
Pastor Gen

Passing the Peace of Christ and Welcoming the Light Christ

Hymn: “God’s Eye is on the Sparrow” Hymn 475 (NCH)
Public Domain
1. Why should I feel discouraged? Why should the shadows come? Why should my heart feel lonely? And long for heaven and home? When God is my portion; a constant friend will be. God’s eye is on the sparrow and I know God watches me. God’s eye is on the sparrow and I know God watches me. I sing because I’m happy. I sing because I’m free. God’s eye is on the sparrow and I know God watches me.
2. “Let not your heart be troubled,” Christ’s tender word I hear, and resting on God’s goodness, I lose my doubts and fears. Though by the path God leads me, but one step I may see. God’s eye is on the sparrow, and I know God watches me. God’s eye is on the sparrow, and I know God watches me. I sing because I’m happy. I sing because I’m free. God’s eye is on the sparrow and I know God watches me.
3. Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise, when songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies, I then draw close to my Savior, from care I am set free. God’s eye is on the sparrow, and I know God watches me. God’s eye is on the sparrow, and I know God watches me. I sing because I’m happy. I sing because I’m free. God’s eye is on the sparrow and I know God watches me. Just follow me down to Jordan’s stream,

Listening for God
Message to Young Hearts
Isaiah 1:16-17, New Revised Standard Version
Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
    remove the evil of your doings
    from before my eyes;
cease to do evil,
    learn to do good;
seek justice,
    rescue the oppressed,
defend the orphan,
    plead for the widow.
Ephesians 6:14-20 New Revised Standard Version
Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak.
